I am currently at Santo Domigo, The Dominican Republic, in a temporary retreat from my usual duties as an Addiction Specialist. In my Abscense, NYPC Chairman Of The Board, Walid Michelen MD, is the person to consult for all academic and community-related activities.Dr Ishmael Griffin is fully cooperating with us in matters related to NYPC and its academy.
Any person interested into being admitted to our academy must contact the above Doctors at Lincoln.

NYPC/USMLE Academy still alive and doing well

Recently, some former students, and now detractors of our academic project, had been trying to spread the rumor that our USMLE academy is going out of business: nothing more false than that statement. We are now working with a small group of students to whom we are to devote the best efforts to ensure that our students not only graduate from our program but also that they take USMLE and enter in HHC residency training programs. In the past, we were just graduating students and of the 72 of them we graduated last December 2007, we have no information that any of them went to take USMLE step I: that will happen no more. Our academy is now under the leadership of a qualified KAPLAN Instructor, Dr Fuentes, a young Colombian MD who is already working in our re3search program. We will no more raised crows that at the first glance will try to take our eyes. We are no longer to sponsor people that do not make merits by helping the community and/or fellow students. We learned from past experiences and are now placing the past where it belongs. Anyone who does not believes in our values can go to the competency to look for knowledge but when ready to enter into residency training, please do not come to us for help: tell them to advocate for you. We are close to make arrangements with HHC authorities and program directors, as well , to ensure the successful entrance of our graduates to accredited program, beginning next year. After a meeting that NYPC board of directors will held next Thursday, we will be in the position to inform the latest in our successful endeavor. Socrates Castillo, M.D NYPC/USMLE Founder

USMLE?NYPC academy continues academic activities

Dr Castillo at his graduation ceremony as Addiction Psychiatrist
At The Bronx-Lebanon Hospital, NY ( with program Dir. Dr tutu ( 6.4.08)
We are still providing academic support for new physicians already enrolled at our academy: we are now getting students from Cuban latinoamerican University, which harbors students from the USA and latinoamerican countries, as well as from African countries. We have 15 students being instructed by former KAPLAN instructors who are devoting valuable time to cooperate to our cause. We have appointed Dr Carlos Fuentes, a young and talented Venezuelan MD who graduated from Cuba and works part time at KAPLAN, as our new academy coordinator. We are taking over the role of academy director since our friend Radhames Rojas is unable to fulfill his role as director , due to his busy schedule at Jacobi Hospital ( he is a second year resident of Medicine, There).
By next year we have a commitment to help those students and instructors who may be ready to start residency training. Our research assistant program at Lincoln hospital had already accepted some MD's already graduated in Cuba and who has the opportunity to rotate into the different clinical services.
We repesent the future and will fight for the right of every doctor in need to study for USMLE and to enter into accredited residency training programs.

ALL SET-UP FOR NEXT WEDNESDAY USMLE OPENING DAY

We are pleased to announce that NYPC/USMLE academy director Radames Rojas, M.D had just informed us that our academy new curriculum for the incoming semester will be ready by Sunday April 20,2008. By Monday April 21 at 4:00pm, we will have a meeting with NYPC chairman Walid Michelen, M.D at his Lincoln Hospital Office in order to make the final preparations for the incoming NYPC academy opening semester. There will be a brief and simple opening ceremony at Lincoln auditorium in which Chairman Michelen, Dr Castillo and Academy director will speak to the attendees regarding current and futures issues of the academy. This writer is to make an important announcement to our new and previous students. NYPC academy is the mean that will allow students enrollees to have a better chance to get accepted into residency training programs in the future, being that it is becoming harder and harder to enter into ACGME-accredited programs. This academy was an idea of Dr Castillo in 2003 but now belongs to Lincoln Hospital and to all of you students and academic staff: I hope that you will never allow this wonderful enterprise to go down and to be put out of business. Finally, do not forget inauguration date: WEDNESDAY APRIL 23, 2008 AT LINCOLN HOSPITAL AUDITORIUM ( FIRST FLOOR) AT MORRIS AVE AND 149TH ST, BRONX, NY

NNYPC/USMLE academy is becoming Cosmopolitan

Students from Haiti, Guatemala , Nicaragua, Paraguay, Colombia , Venezuela, Ecuador, Santo Domingo, Puerto Rico, Cuba, El Salvador,Bolivia, Chile , Argentina, Ghana, Panama, Jamaica y Mexico ( among others), had contacted us looking to opt for admission into NYPC and its academy, being that new semester is due to begin by April 23, 20008 6:00pm at Lincoln Hospital auditorium, located at 149th st and Morris ave, Bronx, NY 10453 ( first floor). We are more than happy with this situation and ready to meet the challenge that preparing them to meet USMLE implies. In this new scenario our org leaves behind unfortunate suituations that placed our commitment in serious jeopardy: we are now looking toward a prosperous and bright future for all Foreign Medical Graduates that may see our org as " light in the dark tunnel" in their path to becoming fully accredited doctors in the USA. We will be looking for the opportunity to welcome them at the academy and to provide the best academic support with our outstanding teaching staff ( which includes 3 board certified physicians,; including the chairman and medical director of a NY college Of Medicine ACGME -accredited residency training program). Our graduates will have full corporate and NYPC support when they become elegible to enter into training programs. Our academy is the only-one based at a major teaching hospital( Lincoln) a
/ Weill-Cornell University Affiliated; the one with full corporate support (lincoln administration); the one with a research assistant program in which our members has the opportunity to join and to become proficient in research activities as well to participate in academic rotations at the annual services and, finally, the one that truly integrate students to community-related activities ( mostly into preventive medicine and medical education), We do not tell our graduates: " OK you pass USMLE; then go and lookfor placement at training programs" : we back them up fully with our excellent referral network.
HAving said all of the above: Why not joining us?
